Dick Jaspers Smashes World Record Scoring 40 in 4 Innings!

Dick Jaspers of the Netherlands has achieved an incredible milestone in his career, setting a new world record for a single match to 40 points. Playing in Germany on Sunday January 21, 2018, Jaspers met Andreas Efler In a game played in the Bundesliga team competition. The Dutch billiard player scored the 40 caroms in just 4 innings to average an unbelievable 10.00!

2016 UMB World Cup Guri Korea - Part 1 Thru Qualifications!

The 2016 UMB World Cup Guri - the fifth World Cup this season - commenced on August 29, 2016 in Guri, Korea. The event will continue through five stages over the week culminating with the single elimination 32-player main tournament and the final match on September 4. The maximum number of players have entered the event - 149 players from 19 countries - all battling for a chance to join the world's elite players with a world cup victory. The plural of opus: A Tribute to George Theobald

I first met George Theobald in 2005 at a billiard tournament in Jackson Heights, Queens (NY). I was with a group of players, and George walked up, smiled and asked, “What’s the plural of opus?” “Opuses?” someone said. “Opi?” another offered. George smiled again, amused at the guesses, and walked away, happy that he had stumped the group. Like much of the billiards world, I learned of George’s sudden passing a few days ago. He’ll be missed by many, me included.

The 2016 Verhoeven Open Tournament - Complete Re-Cap

The 2016 Verhoeven began August 1, 2016. Held at Carom Cafe Billiards in Flushing New York, the event brings the world's best players to the United States to battle for six days. The champion will take home the trophy and the $9,000.00 first place prize. The event attracted 105 players this year (plus five seeded entrants) and will be held in three stages: First the 105-player preliminary qualifications, followed by the 40-player semi-finals (both in round robin format,) and finally a 16-man finals in single elimination knock-out format. Blomdahl Still Ranked #1 Sanchez Moves Up

In the latest World Players Ranking released by the UMB today Torbjorn Blomdahl with 403 points remains on top. This latest list includes points earned in the most recently completed World Cup held in Istanbul Turkey. The results from the 2014 World Cup Guri drop off. Despite losing 30 points overall from the last ranking list, Blomdahl still retains a comfortable 117 point lead.
