Jesus Quinones, by a margin of just one billiard, defeated Ertan Tarhan to win the first USBA/Gabriels Tour B Tournament. The event was held January 16-18 at the Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Complete charts from Qualifications through the Finals follows.
The United States Billiard Association has had its ups and downs over the years. Who can forget the incredible eleven-year run when the great Sang Lee represented not just the best in the US... but in the world as well. Recently, however, the tournaments and membership in the USBA have waned from their peak before that day when we lost Mr. Lee. Now... the current leadership at USBA has re-dedicated themselves to the growth of the sport of 3-Cushion Billiards. And the beginning of this new era has kicked off with an incredible "double" event held at the Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson, Arizona.
From January 16 to 18, 2017 the USBA held what everyone hopes will be the first of many more events in the USA focused on the core of its membership - "B" level players and below. An Open tournament for A players (and all-comers!) immediately followed Janaury 19-21.
The forty players pictured above were poised and ready to kick off the first three days of competition to crown the champion of the first USBA/Gabriels Tour B Tournament.The qualification rounds divided the players into eight groups of five playing round robin. Two from each group moved on to the 16-player single elimination finals. The results and rankings appear in the gallery below.

In the finals all the games were hard fought. Players who were struggling to make it through picked up while a few who breezed through seemed to slow down. In the end, Jesus Quinones prevailed in what many said were tough tournament conditions. In the final rounds the leaders were:
The combination of brand new cloth and balls on the just assembled five Gabriels tables proved to be quite challenging for the players to figure out. So much congratulations are due to Jesus on his winning effort.
