Each year since 1928 (with few interruptions) the UMB has held a World Championship tournament to determine the world's best player. These World Cup events represent the strongest competition of world-class players offering the largest prize funds in the sport. Equally important is the chance for players to earn ranking points, which enable the top twelve at any time to automatically seed into the main tournament of the current World Cup event.
