The 2019 Russ Guppy Memorial 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament was held on November 9-10 at the Tacoma Elks Lodge # 174. Although traditionally held at the Elks Lodge in Hood River, Oregon, this year it was held in Tacoma because the Hood River Elks Lodge removed its billiard tables. The tournament was held in memory of Russ Guppy, who over many years helped to promote the game of 3-cushion billiards in the Pacific Northwest.
The USBA is the governing body for carom billiards in the USA. In the first half of 2019 the USBA held a series of qualifying tournaments leading up to the National Championship (May.) In addition other regional events are held around the country throughout the year. Here is the recap of results thorough July. Click the winners name for more info on each event.
Lausanne, August 26, 2019, Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB): Las Vegas will once again host World Cups.
Billiard fans worldwide, and especially those on the American continent, will be happy to hear that the city of Las Vegas will host UMB World Cups in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The USBA (United States Billiard Association), the CPB (Confederación Panamericana de Billar) and the UMB (Union Mondiale de Billard) have jointly announced this news.

At US Bida in Houston, Texas, Hugo Patiño won his fourth USBA three-cushion national title, defeating defending champion Miguel Torres, 40-32, in the finals. Multiple-time champion Pedro Piedrabuena finished third, and local player John Park finished fourth. But the story of the tournament was Patiño’s majestic run of 18 from the break in the finals. Patiño’s streak tied the USBA record set by Mazin Shooni in Miami in 2006 for the longest run in a national championship. For his victory, Patiño won $3250 and another $100 for the high run. The United States Billiard Association 3-Cushion National Championship is scheduled May 16-19, 2019 at US Bida/Billiards in Houston, Texas. The USBA has been holding a series of qualifying tournaments across the country sending the best players to Houston with paid entry. The Tacoma Elks Club hosted the first Shamrock Invitational Tournament giving twelve players a chance to compete and attend a clinic put on by former USBA National Champion George Ashby. Jesus Quinones was the winner.
